Obituary of Ila Mae Wright Ila Mae Wright, age 99, of Gadsden, AL passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Gadsden. Larry Fuhrman and Matt Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wright was a very outgoing lady. She was the valedictorian of Walnut Grove High School, graduate of the University of Montevallo, and retired from DHR after 26 years of service. She as actively involved in the women’s club, serving four years as president. Mrs. Wright was an active member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Redbud Garden Club, A.S.V.P. Council, DHR County Board, First Baptist WMU, and lifetime member of University Montevallo Alumni.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Wright; brother, Morris L. Nelson; sister, Nyra Jo Nash; and parents, Albert and Fannie Nelson.

 

Ila Mae is survived by her sons, Nelson (Donna) Wright and Gary (Melissa) Wright; grandchildren, Emily Wright, Andy (Mandy) Wright, and Adam Wright; great grandchildren, Sydney, Barkley, and Evan Wright and Charlie Wright; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Pallbearers will be Sid Nelson, Andy Wright, Adam Wright, and Evan Wright.

 

Memorials may be made to Eagle Rock Boys Home or First Baptist Church missions.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Narayan, Regency Point Regal Place, Gentiva Home Health and Hospice, and a special thanks to Brenda Franklin, sitter, with Healing Hands.

The family will accept friends from 1:00PM until the hour of the service at the church on Wednesday.
