A funeral mass will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at St James Catholic Church for Mrs. Ida S. Rader, 91, of Gadsden who passed away Friday, December 2, 2022. Father Jose Chakco will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Rader was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 1, 1931 to Miquel and Maria Sanchez. She was a 37 year member of St James Catholic Church and was a sodality member. She volunteered at Catholic Center of Concern, Habitat for Humanity, and worked a booth at Talladega 500 for the church.
Mrs. Rader enjoyed knitting, scrabble, card games and word finds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Rader; daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Charlie) Grima Sr., daughter, Jeanne Mascari, and brothers, Mike Sanchez, Pedro Sanchez and Louie Sanchez.
Survivors are her sister, Edie Crockenberg, children, Frank (Ruth) Grima, Gloria (Albert) Grima and Donna (John) Hodge, Jr.; son-law, Bill Mascari, Sr., grandchildren, Bernadette (Mike), Maria, Almando (Stacy), Colleen (Mack), Kimberly (Larry) and Lisa (Desario), 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be, Alex, Ralph, Larry, Almando, Frankie and Charlie.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. Rader’s memory to St James Catholic Center of Concern, 612 Chestnut Street Gadsden, AL 35901.
The family extends special thanks to Mrs. Rader’s community, and affiliates for always being there.
Visitation will be at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Thursday from 11:30 am until 4:30 p.m. and on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
