Ida Ladean “Deanie” Overstreet Sloan
March 11, 1943 ~ July 5, 2023 (age 80)

Deanie Sloan went to be at home with her Lord on July 5, 2023. She passed away at her home in Snow Lake Shores, MS, following years of illness. Services for Mrs. Sloan will be held at Ashland Baptist Church on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 2 pm. Burial will be in the Ashland City Cemetery.

Deanie was born on March 11, 1943, to Dennis and Clara Mae (Word) Overstreet in Clarksdale, MS. Her father was drafted into the Marines when she was six months old; the next time she saw him she was three and a half years old. During that time, she and her mother lived with the Word family. Her family moved several times during her lifetime. She graduated from North Miami High School in Miami, FL. She married the love of her life, William Sidney Sloan, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary March 2023. When her parents retired, she ran her father’s pool excavating company, and transitioned into owning her own pool excavation company, R&D Excavating. One of her proudest accomplishments, was becoming the first female to obtain her General Contractor’s license in Miami Dade County. They continued to live in Miami for fifty years before moving to Snow Lake. During her time in Florida, she was an active member at Wayside Baptist Church. Once Sidney retired, they moved to Snow Lake Shores, and took care of her mother, until her death. She became an active member of Ashland Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring person, always helping others. She always loved animals, she had dogs all of her life, and cats the last fifteen years.

Deanie is survived by her husband, William Sidney Sloan, Daughters: Kimberly Lynn Sloan, Leslie Yvette Sloan and Esther Renee Sloan; Grandchildren: Ashley (Juan) Patrone, Justin (Sandy) Wilkes, Kyle (Sarah) Young, Shelby Green, Dillon (Brooke) Wilkes, Jarrod Duble; Great Grandchildren: Gabriella Patrone, Juan “JP” Patrone Jr., Alexandar Patrone, Blake Wilkes, Harper Young, Emersyn “Emmie” Young, and William “Liam” Wilkes.
