SHEFFIELD—Medical Associates of the Shoals recently delivered approximately 700 bags of classroom supplies to certified teachers in Colbert County. Each bag contained several items that teachers often pay for out of their own pockets, including dry erase markers, paper, highlighters, pens, sticky notes, tissues and disinfecting wipes. The event began on October 5 and concluded on November 16. Deliveries were made to Muscle Shoals City Schools, Colbert County Schools, Covenant Christian School, Tuscumbia City Schools, and Sheffield City Schools.
According to Josh Vacik, MD, FACP, a physician with Medical Associates of the Shoals, Doctors and Teachers in Harmony, which is in its second year, is an opportunity to help the community by helping educators. “This is a small way in which we can give back to our communities by supporting education. We know that better education leads to a better quality of life. Better quality of life almost always leads to better health, and that is ultimately what we want for the communities we serve.”
Teachers at 24 schools received bags of supplies. A team from Medical Associates of the Shoals delivered the bags and spent time expressing their gratitude to the teachers, staff and administrators for all they do to help area students achieve success.
