Hula Butler Strange, 96, of Iuka, MS, formerly of Booneville, MS, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Carrington House in Iuka. Hula was born to Looney and Elsie Taylor Butler on September 8, 1919, in Prentiss County, MS. She was a medical technician for over forty years and worked for Dr. W. W. Strange, who later became her husband, at Booneville Clinic. She knew practically everyone in Booneville in those early years. After her husband died she moved to Iuka and built a house. She and her sisters, Maxine and Bernice, were known as the “Golden Girls”. They traveled to the Quad-Cities shopping and to Corinth to meet their childhood friends for lunch at Wal-Mart. She loved her family and enjoyed a long life with the many friends she made. She was the eldest of the four children and the last of the “Golden Girls”. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Monday. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Dr. Johnny Hancock and Eugene Gifford. Interment will follow in Booneville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. She is survived by two nieces, Shirley Kirk of Gulfport, and Pam Monroe (Albert) of Iuka; four nephews, Phil Kirk (Sandy) of Iuka, Billy Butler (Ada), and Donnie Butler and Johnny Butler (Louann) both of Corinth; and a sister-in-law, Irene Butler of Iuka. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. W. W. Strange; her brother, Curtis Butler; and two sisters, Bernice Kirk and Maxine Kirk. Memorials may be made to the Iuka Baptist Church.
