Hugh Philip Norwood, 86, of Killen, passed away October 18, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by loved ones. He was a loving husband, father, son, granddaddy, and great granddaddy. Philip loved God, his family, and his friends. He grew up in Five Points, TN, and learned his love of farming during that time. He graduated from Loretto High School. He worked as a barber in St. Joseph, TN, for some time and was a tool and die maker by trade, retiring from Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Motor Co. After retiring, he became a full-time cattle farmer. Survivors include: Wife: Mary Elna Darnell Norwood Daughter: Melanie Coburn (Terry) Granddaughters: Sasha Morrison, Amanda Coburn, Shea Morrison & Shelby Norwood Great granddaughters: Ayden Carson, Ivy Puller & Gabrielle Carswell Preceded in death by: Parents: Noah Dunn Norwood & Evelyn Desta Crabb Norwood Daughter: Sophia Norwood Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00am, at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. David McKelvey officiating. Interment will be in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Killen, AL. Pallbearers will be: David Smith, Bobby Young, Oneal Lovett, Bennie Anders, Ed Hughes & Colt Clemmons. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Hollis and his staff at Killen Clinic, Amedisys Hospice, and Anna Sue Overstreet. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude, Memphis, TN.
