Hugh Harold Pentecost, age 90, of Cullman, Alabama, left to be with his Saviour and to be gathered with his own on Friday, November 26, 2021. The family will receive friends at Collier Butler Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 30, from 11:30 am until 12:30pm. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Collier Butler Funeral Home will carry out the arrangements. Mr. Pentecost grew up working on his family’s farm in Southside, Alabama. He later became a diesel mechanic, which led to he and his family travelling to various parts of Alabama so he could work on the heavy equipment used in highway construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Alabama Football, and Braves Baseball. Most of all he delighted in serving the Lord through service to his church and those in need. Well into his eighties, he could be found mowing yards for those who had no one else to help. He had a servant’s heart and loved his Lord, Locust Fork Baptist Church, his family, and his friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife of almost 40 years, Shirley Ann Grant Pentecost; he was then blessed with his second wife Barbara Ann South Pentecost who has also passed. He is also preceded by his parents William Ernest and Nannie Leona Pentecost, and nine brothers and sisters, and his son-in-law Steve Hollis. Mr. Pentecost is survived by his daughters Phyllis Pentecost (Sharon), Carol Hollis, Janice Lopez (Louie), and Patsy Rushing (Terry) ; grandchildren Brian Lopez, Stephanie Davenport (Jeremy), Lori DeJarnett (Sam), and Lisa Rushing; Great grandchildren Marcus and S.J. DeJarnett and Jarrett Davenport and his brother Pete Pentecost. He is also survived by his stepchildren Tommy South (Lynda), Linda Duncan (George), Jan McCombs (Jack) and David South (Kim); 6 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren. He also has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many dear friends. The family will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express their special thanks to the nurses and staff of Woodland Village Health Care and Rehab and to both Comfort Care Home Health and Hospice. The family will accept flowers or you may remember Hugh with a memorial donation to Locust Fork Baptist Church.
