Howell W. McCaghren – Obituary

Funeral service for Howell W. McCaghren, 82, of Danville will be Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Miller and Brother Steve Ledbetter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McCaghren died on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1936, in Morgan County to Elmer L. McCaghren and Leola E. Keenum McCaghren. He was employed in the maintenance department for Amoco Chemical Company prior to his retirement and also was a farmer. He was married to his wife, Sue McCaghren, for 61 years and was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He loved woodworking, coaching baseball and fishing but most of all loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles McCaghren.

Survivors include his wife, Ima Sue McCaghren; one son, Howell Keith McCaghren (Kim), Danville; one daughter, Anita McCaghren Miller (Mike), Columbiana, Alabama; one sister, Dorothy McCaghren Jarvis, Danville; three grandchildren, Leah Miller Simpson (Casey), Howell Keith McCaghren II (Sarah) and Hunter Moore McCaghren (Candice); and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith McCaghren, Hunter McCaghren, Kerry Bullard, Boyd McNutt, Casey Simpson and Greg George.

Honorary pallbearers will be Howell Keith McCaghren III, Casey John Simpson II and Briggs Moore McCaghren.

Family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Kindred Hospice, his nurse, Diana and also Kathy, Jennifer and Evita.
