Dr. Howard W. Thomas departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the age of 89 years and 3 months. He was born in Michie, Tennessee on April 20, 1927, the son of the late Hughes W. and Zelma Howard Thomas. On December 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dora Ann Robertson, who survives.
Dr. Howard served his country in the United States Navy with the Seabees in World War II. He was a beloved physician at Thomas Clinic in Savannah, Tennessee. He was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Howard is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Dora Ann Thomas of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Dr. James Howard Thomas of Savannah, Tennessee, Dr. Robert David Thomas of Savannah, Tennessee, and Dr. Joseph Stuart Thomas of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, James Martin Thomas, Christopher Todd Thomas, Ashley D. Byrd, Leslie Kemp, Kelsey Alexander, Ben Thomas, Eric Thomas, and Jennifer Thomas; great-grandchildren, McKinley Thomas, Laurie Thomas, Grayson Thomas, Katie Kemp, Koen Kemp, Parker Thomas, Mason Thomas, Carly Thomas, and Caleb Thomas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Thomas Fields.
