Howard Eugene DanielHoward Eugene Daniel, 82, Tuscumbia, passed away from a sudden illness on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Friday, July 12, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 13, at Red Rock Church of Christ, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with David Conley and Anthony Briggs officiating. Mr. Daniel will lie-in-state one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia.

Mr. Daniel was born in Franklin County, in the Rock Creek Community. He was a graduate of Cherokee Vocational High School where he met his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia McWilliams. He earned his B.S. in history and political science and later a master’s degree in education from Florence State College. He also received his master’s in psychology from Alabama A&M, Huntsville. In 1967, he began his teaching career employed as the drafting instructor at Allen Thornton Vocational and Technical School in Lauderdale County. He was a compassionate educator and dedicated 38 years to Russellville High School as the drafting teacher. Mr. Daniel devoted his life to the teaching profession and was presently employed as an adjunct psychology teacher at Northwest Shoals Community College.

Mr. Daniel was a member of the Red Rock Church of Christ and presently served as an elder for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emray and Lillie Daniel, brother L.D. Daniel, and daughter Jennifer Daniel Shull.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Daniel; daughter, Allison Daniel Roberts (Chris); grandchildren, Ethan Roberts, Maggie Shull, Alexandra Shull, and Emilee Roberts; sister-in-law, Geraldine Daniel; niece, Leigh Daniel; and nephew, Larry Daniel (Julie) daughters Kelli and Lily.

Pallbearers will be Wade Baker, Gene Ellison, Bryan McWilliams, Tucker McWilliams, Matt Parker, Darryl Rutland, and Steve Walton. Honorary pallbearer is nephew, Larry Daniel.

The family would like to express special thanks to the wonderful team of doctors and nurses that cared for Mr. Daniel at Helen Keller Hospital (Emergency Room) and UAB Critical Care Unit.
