Graveside service for Houston Lelton Lawrence, 82, of Franklin, Tennessee, will be Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Reverend Bobby Ray Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home with graveside service following.
Mr. Lawrence, who died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at Alive Hospice Residence, Nashville, Tennessee, was born Oct. 13, 1933 in Morgan County to James “Jimmy” Lelton Lawrence and Myrtle Lucy Cushing Lawrence. He graduated from Hartselle High School, received a Bachelor’s degree from Florence State Teachers College (now University of North Alabama) and was a lifelong learner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ann Bean Lawrence. He was a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Lawrence was a world traveler having visited at least 20 countries, an enthusiastic supporter of the National Parks and an avid amateur genealogist.
Survivors include one son, James H. Lawrence of Decatur; one daughter, Ann S. Hochmann and her husband, Andreas W. Hochmann of Machesney Park, Illinois; and one grandson, Eric A. Hochmann and his wife, Samantha Bohlin Hochmann of Machesney Park, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Park Foundation.
