Houston Kenneth Clark was welcomed Home as a good and faithful servant on April 15, 2023, at Franklin Manor, Winchester, Tennessee at the age of 92.

Kenneth was born on May 12, 1930, and grew up in the Calls Community of Coffee County, Tennessee, where he made lifelong friends.

Houston (as he was called in the military and at work) served his country in the Korean Conflict and then after graduating from Middle Tennessee State College, served his country by working 36 years at Arnold Engineering Development Center, Tullahoma, Tennessee, in the engine testing facilities. He worked as an engineering associate and data analyst and received several “Extra Mile” awards for his dedication and reliability.

Kenneth served Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Estill Springs for most of his years as a faithful member and deacon. Having lived in Estill Springs for over 60 years, he served a stint as Alderman, was a Boy Scout leader, and supported his city in many ways. Kenneth and Lillie were also honored as “Mr. and Mrs. Estill Springs” in 2015. To support Rock Creek Elementary (where he was known as “Mr. Lillie”), he often crafted shelves, nooks, benches, and any other wooden items needed for the classrooms and office. Kenneth volunteered for several years at Franklin County Good Samaritans and the Multi-County Cancer Support Network (MCCSN).

Kenneth served his family faithfully. Always a farmer and gardener, his immaculate, organized gardens produced enough to share with family and neighbors. When the weather turned cooler, he turned to woodworking. Whether he was building a piece of furniture, toys, or a delicate piece of jewelry, each piece was crafted with mathematical precision and finished perfectly. He enjoyed gathering with the Woodworkers Association to share ideas and projects. Farming and woodworking showcased the patience, diligence, and care for which he was known and loved.

Most importantly, Kenneth served his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ faithfully. Through so many health crises, his doctors avowed his recoveries were testimonies to his faith and many prayers. By his own experiences throughout life, he could testify to God’s merciful provisions, loving kindness, and mighty works.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Franklin Clark and Mamie Elois Tuck Clark; four siblings Elwanda Clark Partin, Donald Phillip Clark, Douglas Wayne Clark, and Benton Lee Clark; and parents by marriage, James William (J.W.) and Mary Elizabeth (“Bessie”) Ingleburger.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lillie Elizabeth Clark; his children Cindy (Steven) Callaway and James (Kimberly) Clark; his grandchildren Caitlyn Callaway Morris (Greg), Meagan Clark, Matthew Clark, Andrew Clark, Andrew (Alison) Callaway; his great-grandchildren, Clayton, Corbin, and Tyler Callaway. In addition, he is survived by one brother Duane Clark, sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.

Services will be held on April 22, 2023, at 3:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Chapel with interment at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, Tennessee, Bro. Dwight Duckworth and Bro. Leon Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Franklin County Good Samaritans or Multi-County Cancer Support Network.
