Houston Edward Young – Obituary

Houston E. YoungHouston Edward Young age 82 passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home.

He was born March 3, 1931 in Bolivar, TN and grew up in Chester County, the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Young and Mattie Scott Young Haynes. He attended schools in Hardeman County. Mr. Young married Ora Bell Henley Jones in 1973 and they made their home in the Five Points area where they both worked for the Pinson Nursery, a Division of the Tennessee State Forestry. She passed away August 13, 1994. Mr. Young later married Lyndia Russ White in 2006 and they made their home in the Beech Bluff area of Chester County. She passed away July 8, 2013. He retired from the nursery in 1990 and went back to working part time in the winter months. Mr. Young was a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church.

Mr. Young is survived by a sister, Frankie Roach of Corinth, MS, two step-sons, Jerry Jones of Dyersburg and Edward White of Scottshill and four step-daughters, Linda Chatman of Como, MS, Judy Morris of Beech Bluff, Mylinda Tyner of Martin and Laura White of Scottshill; and several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Young ad Joe Haynes.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ronnie Sells and Bobby Bray officiating and burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 5 PM on Sunday.
