Horace “Toy” Anthony Pugh, age 62 a long time resident of Mount Pleasant passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home.
Toy was born to the late Horace M. Pugh and Ruth Koonce here in Columbia, TN on September 24, 1954. Toy is remembered as a great father, grandfather, teacher, friend, brother and mentor. He was not afraid of hard work. He worked at Spontex and Sonoco both for many years. Toy was a NASCAR fan and a lover of all kinds of music. He played the harmonica in a band that is called “The Touch of Blue Grass”. He was a member of The First Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.
Toy’s life will be celebrated Wednesday September 27 beginning 2 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, September 26, beginning at 4 pm to 8 pm, also at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Randy Kersey will be officiating.
The honor as serving as a pallbearer for Toy will belong to: Mark Hayes, Paul Kersey, Gene White, Ronnie South, Danny Grooms, Jerry Smith, Steven Boshers, Mike Craig and Steve Clark. Honorary pallbearers are all past and present employees of Sonoco and Spontex.
Toy is survived by his sons: Derek (Kristi) Pugh of Columbia, Levi (Jennifer) Pugh of Summertown and Kendall Pugh of Mount Pleasant; granddaughters: Grace (Michael) Neblett, Hannah Pugh, Carley Pugh, Hope Pugh and Courtney Osborne; grandsons: Hayden Pugh and Dylan Osborne; brother: Dennis (Pat) Pugh. He also leaves behind a special friend, Renee Hice-Pihl.
