Horace Allen “Nunior/Junior” Vandiver Jr., age 62, passed away peacefully, December 3, 2024, at his home.
Junior, the son of Horace Allen and Margaret Ann Vandiver, was born July 21, 1962. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1982. Junior held many jobs, including Menasha Packaging, American Bank Note, and most recently Ryder.
Junior loved spending time with his family, especially going fishing with his nephews and horseback riding.
He is survived by his father: Allen Vandiver and his mother: Margaret Ann Vandiver; siblings: James Wayne “Buster” (Janet) Vandiver, and Tammy Annette (Garry) McPeak; six nephews: Jared Ayers (Diana Himes), Cameron (Christina) McCanless, Trenton Vandiver (Jerry Wayne Bailey), Zachary (Kaitlin) McPeak, Colton (Ashley) McPeak, and Peyton Vandiver (Hannah Pangle); 10 great-nephews; 2 great-nieces; aunt: Laticia Grooms, Lisa “Sissy” Tate, Ruby Vandiver, and Peggy Vandiver; and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by grandparents: James and Josephine Grooms; and uncle: William “Buddy” Grooms; grandparents: Horace and Lizzy Vandiver; uncles: Billy Joe Vandiver, Charles Vandiver, Gerald Paul; and aunt: Joyce Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Junior will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Jared Ayers, Cameron McCanless, Trenton Vandiver, Zachary McPeak, Colton McPeak, and Peyton Vandiver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa “Sissy” Tate, Brittany Potts, Chase Cole, Ricky Seagraves, Christopher “Boo” Boshers, Amos McCoy, and the employees of Ryder.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
