Hits and Haunts Tour features Muscle Shoals music and ghosts

TUSCUMBIA – The Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau is mixing up some hits and haunts with a touch of local history to create another exciting Halloween trolley tour.

The third annual Hits and Haunts Trolley Tour will depart ColdWater Books, at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Oct. 24 for a ghost tour of the area that includes stop a stop Cypress Moon Studios in Sheffield. Ghostly activities have been reported at the historic building that has served as an electrical power plant, U.S. Naval Reserve station and a recording and movie production studio. At Cypress Moon Studios, owner Tonya Holley will tell about the Muscle Shoals music industry and the ghostly encounters she and others have experienced there.

During the trolley ride, award-winning journalist and author, Bernie Delinski, will share some of his stories about Shoals ghosts.

Susann Hamlin, president and CEO of Colbert Tourism, said the tour is family friendly.

“The tour is an excellent way to kick off the Halloween season, learn about the music that makes our area famous and hear a few ghost stories” Hamlin said. “There are spirits of past inhabitants the Shoals that are just dying to be discovered during the tour.”
