Hit-And-Run Near Hanceville Leaves Bicyclist Dead

HANCEVILLE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a hit-and-run involving a a bicycle near Hanceville that has taken the life of one person:

“A single-vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred at approximately 6:46 p.m. Thursday, November 9, has claimed the life of a Hanceville man. 

Dakota R. Lamons, 19, was fatally injured when the bicycle that he was operating was struck by a vehicle.  After the initial impact, Lamon was thrown off the bicycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The vehicle left the scene and the exact vehicle type, as well as the driver is still unknown.  

The crash occurred on Alabama 91 near Cullman County 501, approximately eight miles south of Hanceville, in Cullman County.  Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. 

The vehicle is believed to be a 2007-2014 white Chevrolet Silverado or a GMC Sierra with the entire passenger side black mirror missing from the vehicle.  Anyone with information on the vehicle and/or incident should contact ALEA Troopers at 256-353-0631.”
