NASHVILLE, TN – Hippies & Cowboys, the electrifying Southern rock and soul band out of Nashville, will release “Fork In The Road,” their six-song EP, today, Sept. 27. The EP release coincides with the band’s performance at Pilgrimage, the popular arts, music and culture festival in Franklin, Tenn. Pilgrimage performance is on the Americana Music Triangle stage 5:25 p.m., Sept. 29. The band’s first national tour kicks off this fall.
Produced by Casey Wasner and recorded at his Purple House Studio in Leiper’s Fork, the four original songs on the EP were written or co-written by H&C lead singer Aaron Sparling. Singles include “Give It Up,” “Midnite Rose,” and “Ain’t No Good.” “Fork In The Road” features two bonus tracks and will be available on all major streaming platforms.
“We want our music available to the masses,” lead singer Aaron Sparling said. “Our fans are asking for more original music, so we’re hitting it hard to deliver with the rapid release of four singles. The national tour gives us the opportunity to perform in front of new audiences across the country. The entire band is stoked about this next round of music and touring.”
Leading up to Pilgrimage, Hippies & Cowboys played Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion where attendees flocked to their two sets, creating a festival buzz among the die-hard music fans. About that performance, Rolling Stone said, “… Nashville-based Hippies & Cowboys, arriving on a heap of buzz, roared through a blistering set of Southern rock and blues. “So this is how it feels/to have nothing left to lose/To be on rock bottom/and what it’s like to sing the blues,” lead singer Aaron Sparling sang during “Fork in the Road,” his voice evoking that of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.”
Fall tour dates include Phoenix (10/10), Anaheim w/Goo Goo Dolls (10/12) Los Angeles (10/13), Las Vegas (10/14), Grand Junction w/Blackberry Smoke (10/15) Detroit (10/17), Milwaukee (10/18), Bloomington, IN (10/21), and back to their hometown of Nashville on 10/25. Complete tour schedule is here.
“With this EP, we created a real rock ‘n’ roll record, keeping the sounds of yesterday alive in today’s modern musical world.” Sparling continued. “ ‘Fork in The Road’ has something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a hard-hitting edge or a ‘peaceful, easy feeling,’ we’re servin’ it up Hippies & Cowboys-style to our fans.”
Most recently Hippies & Cowboys performed for Jon Bon Jovi’s launch of his downtown club JFJ’s Nashville, in the heart of Music City’s Broadway Honky Tonks. The invite-only private party coincided with the release party of Bon Jovi’s 16th studio album, “Forever.” During their set, Hippies & Cowboys front man Aaron Sparling welcomed Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan onto the stage to jam a few classic tunes before Bon Jovi performed.
