Hildegard Buchhold Tate, 91, of Jasper, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with a private burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Rusty Richardson will officiate.
Hildegard was a 1983 graduate of UAB, with a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She was BPW Woman of the Year of 1984-1985; she served as President of the BPW in 1986 -1987. In 1989-1990, she became Member of the Year of BPW and again in 2003-2004. Hildegard retired from Walker College as a registrar with 20 plus years. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She loved her fur babies and enjoying time at the pool with her friends “mermaids”. Hildegard enjoyed gardening, arts and listing to music. She was a special lady and loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Tate; son, Andrew Stephen Tate; parents, Theodore and Ilse Zetner Buchhold; and sister, Helga Kramer.
She is survived by her children, Karen Shaw, Margrit Tate, Michael Tate; sister, Carolyn Grisham; nephew, Ernest Kramer; special family members, Ronnie Shaw, Donna Milner, Tony Cranmore and Sheila Uptain and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Walker County Humane Society, PO. Box 1407 Jasper, AL 35502, Jimmy Hale Mission Birmingham, or Walker College Alumni Scholarship Fund.
