A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Hilda Waldrop will be held Friday, June 9th at First Methodist Church in Athens. Visitation will be held 12:30 – 1:30 with the service beginning at 1:30.
Hilda passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023. She was proceeded in death by her son Patrick Scott Waldrop, her daughter Ginny Glenn Waldrop Vandeberg, brother Russ Patty and her parents. She is survived by her husband Pat Waldrop, son Mitch (Sally), daughter Mindy (Mark), Grandchildren Dan (Kristen), Zeke (Madison), Emily (Emerson), Zoe (Price), Annie (Scott), Grey, Maddie, Max and Luke. Great-Grandchildren Tripp and Hallie Kate. Sister Peggy (David) and brother Steve (Janet) daughter in law Dana and son in law Kevin along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Hilda was born February 9, 1941, in Gadsden, Alabama. She and Pat moved to Athens in 1963 and have called it home since. Always involved in the community, she served in the Jaycee’s, Beautification Board, Boys and Girls Club among others and was always active in her church. Among family and friends Hilda was known for her shopping, cooking and decorating skills.
The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to April, Haley and Katelyn who are true angels, and also the 3rd floor nurses and staff at Athens Hospital more compassion could not have been shown.
Always generous Hilda donated her body to Genesis Legacy Program for Medical and Education Research and asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to a favorite charity or organization.
