Hettie Lucille Paschal Harris, a native of Smith County, TN was born Oct. 10, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Florence Young Paschal and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, but in her later years faithfully attended Fayetteville 1st United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. She was a graduate of Gordonsville High School where she lettered in basketball all four years and was captain her senior year. She moved to Nashville where she worked for Southern Bell, N.C. and St. L. Railroad and the State of Tennessee. She and her first husband James P. Cheatham, Jr. moved to Miami, FL in 1948 where she worked for Webster Outdoor Advertising. After his death, she returned to Nashville where she met and married her second husband R. Reuben Harris, Sr. She became a homemaker and continued to live in Davidson County until Mr. Harris’ death and then moved to Brentwood in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Margaret Lucille Harris and her two brothers Clyde Thomas Paschal, Sr. and Van Edward Paschal. She is survived by her son Robert R. Harris, Jr., her grandson R. Reuben Harris III both of Fayetteville, her granddaughter Lori Eileen Harris of Chattanooga, her neice Emily P. Harris of Lebanon and two nephews Thomas E. Paschal of Carthage and Clyde T. Paschal, Jr. of Albertville, AL.
Visitation with the family will be conducted Friday evening from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday September 15th at 2 PM at Bass Funeral Home in Gordonsville, TN with Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial to follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Brush Creek, TN beside her first husband James P. Cheatham, Jr..
