Hester Mae Tidwell Petty Steakley departed this life on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the age of 84 years, 2 months, 17 days.
She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on July 30, 1929, the daughter of the late Jim and Maggie Worley Tidwell. Mrs. Steakley loved spending time with her family and friends, and playing with her grandchildren. She loved being outside taking care of her flowers and was a member of The Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Steakley is survived by her children, Travis Petty “Grissom” of Scotts Hill, Tennessee, Tommy Jack Petty, Mike Petty, Billie Ward all of Savannah, Tennessee, Bobby Petty of Corinth, Mississippi, Mary S. Petty, Della Mae Myers, Ricky Petty, and Tina McClain all of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, John Henry Tidwell of Savannah, Tennessee. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steakley was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Petty On June 17, 1973; her second husband, Herbert Steakley on March 1, 2008; a daughter, Carolyn Melson; a son, Will J. Petty; sister, Susie Anderson, and an infant sister.
