Hershell Edmond Ferguson, Jr.Hershell Edmond Ferguson, Jr., 87, passed away October 26, 2023, at NMMC-Pontotoc, MS. Hershell was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc County graduating from Randolph High School in 1953.  He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 50 years. He served in the United States Air Force. He was a cattleman, farmer, and carpenter, and also served as the first department head of the Pontotoc County Sanitation Department for 15 years until his retirement in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Ferguson; his sons, Randy Ferguson (Candy), Ricky Ferguson (Lisa), and Steve Ferguson (Paula); daughter, Staci Evans (Bart); his grandchildren, Lane, Lee, Shea, Jacob, Rilee, Ramsee, and Ella; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Culley, and Kash Ferguson, and Eli Mills; one sister, Carolyn Logan (Johnny); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershell Ferguson, Sr. and Cordie Brown Ferguson.
Services will be Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 2PM with Bro. Donald Austin giving the eulogy and Dr. David Hamilton with the message at Hopewell Baptist Church.  Visitation will be Saturday, October 28th 5-8PM at Hopewell Baptist Church and Sunday, October 29th 12PM until service time at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will follow on the family farm. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Lane Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Caleb Mills, John Logan, JR., Danny Tutor, and Steve Ferguson.
