Hershel Todd CurrieHershel Todd Currie, 59, self-employed carpenter, craftsman and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Frank Webb officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 3:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Kidney Foundation, 1600 Hayes Street, Nashville, TN 37203.

Born August 16, 1963 in Maury County, he was the son of the late James Hershel Currie and the late Catherine Fay Hickman Currie. An avid outdoorsman, he loved spending time with his family camping, fishing, being on the water, and riding motorcycles. Although he was not crazy about hunting, he sure enjoyed eating the meat. Mr. Currie was known to be the life of the party and loved making people laugh. He always had a nickname for everyone he met. Mr. Currie was a very selfless person and it was also hard for him to say no. He was a member of Grace Nazarene Church and later Rock Springs Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife, of 24 years, Rita Carol Cunningham Currie of Columbia; daughter, Jessica (Matthew) Hill of Hampshire; son, Adam (Rachel) Boles of Spring Hill; and five grandchildren; sister, Tammy (Steve) Wilkinson; two nieces; and many close friends.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Damien Prince, Brett DeVitt, Steven Johnson, Steven Lovell, Jim Moser, Hal Pressnell, Rick Pinkerton, Dab Boston, Shane Delk, Robby Johnson, Jericho Williams, Keith Wrather, John Yancey, Bobby Easley, and Steve Wilkinson.

 

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis for the all the care shown to Mr. Currie and allowing him to be the life of the party.
