Hermon Lee “Red Top” Brown, 88, passed away May 15, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He retired from truck driving after 63 years and was known as “Red Bone” to his fellow truckers. A member of Horton Memorial Baptist Church, he enjoyed camping and the Smokey Mountains.
Hermon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cara Mask Brown; his children, Rhonda Hill, Phillip Brown (Angie), and Kerrie Miller; his grandchildren, Ginger Terry (Bubba), Jennifer Sheffield (Chance), Ross Brown, Amy Miller (Said Martinez), Kara Miller, and Brantley Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Blakelyn and Colt Sheffield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Gladys Shettles Brown; and his son-in-law, Charlie Hill.
Services will be Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11AM at Horton Memorial Baptist Church, 2130 Hwy 346, Pontotoc, MS with Bro. Owen Hitchcock officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 17th from 5-8PM at Horton Memorial Baptist Church and Saturday, May 18th 10AM until service time. Burial will follow in Ecru Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Terry, Chance Sheffield, Johnny Mounce, Russell Mahan, Terry Swords, and Billy Caldwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ross Brown, Brantley Miller, and Colt Sheffield.
