Herman Odum passed away on February 20, 2024 at age 90. The Funeral Service, conducted by Bishop Todd Cottle, is 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ LDS (105 Peyton Rd) Lebanon TN. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. The family will be receiving friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.
Herman Franklin Odum was born in Gainesboro TN to Martha Leona Hix and Perry Odum. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. After his service, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Johnson, and together they raised eight children. He worked with brick and stone as a masonry contractor. He enjoyed buying houses, fixing them up, and selling them to start the cycle again. Herman never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. He also enjoyed travelling.
Mr. Odum is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Odum; children: Paul (Liz) Odum, Todd (Andrea) Odum, Anita (Paul) Day, and September (Arturo) Salazar; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Eva Leslie, Homer Odum, Paul (Joann) Odum, and Jack (Geneva) Odum; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by children Randy Odum, Nancy Odum, Ross Odum, and Debbie Ross, his parents, brothers Oscar, Jim, and Herbert, and sister Ruby Edwards.
