Herman Melvin Hardin, son of the late Melvin and Ruby Hardin of Falkville, Alabama, died on April 9th, 2015 at his residence after a long hard battle fought with cancer. He was a fun-loving, easy going man, who always seemed to see the positive and bright side of everything.

He worked at Wolverine Tube for 33 years, farmed and enjoyed working a big garden every summer. He also loved gospel music and helped lead singing at Round Top Church and sometimes at Fairview, and also at New Life Church in Falkville.

He was the patriarch of the Hardin Family and was loved and highly respected by so many because of his good nature and his deep faith in God. Not only has his family suffered a great loss, but so has his community. He will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his son: Mike, and his parents: Melvin and Ruby Hardin.

Survivors include his loving wife, Edna, who stood by him through thick and thin for 69 years, his daughter: Sarah Holmes and husband Benny, two sons: Joe and his wife, Paula, and Ricky and his wife, Sandy. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tracy Holmes (Paula), Monica Holmes Higgonbotham, Hannah Hardin Witt (Tim), Haley Hardin Roberts (Matt), James Hardin and John Hardin(Ericka) and eight great grandchildren.

Herman is walking the streets of gold with his parents, his son and a host of relatives. He is singing with the angels and we all will see him again some day.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the New Life Church. The body will lie in state from 1:00 PM until service time at the Church. Visitation will be at Peck Funeral Home on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery.
