Herman Floyd Taylor Profile Photo Mr. Herman Floyd Taylor, 87, of Toone, departed this life on Monday morning, September 23, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

A native of Fayette County, TN, he was the son of the late Willie and Frances Eaton Taylor. On May 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Fay Young and moved to Memphis.  There, Mr. Taylor worked over 30 years as fork-lift mechanic for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, retiring in 1992.  At that time, they returned to Mrs. Taylor’s home to live in the Ebenezer Community near Toone until her passing on April 1, 2019.  At the time of his death, Mr. Taylor had lived in Hardeman County for 32 years.

Mr. Taylor enjoyed his retirement working as a farmer.  He loved working with and on his farm equipment, bailing hay and other chores around the property.  A 32nd degree Mason while in Memphis, he also was a former deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church.  In his leisure time, Mr. Taylor was an avid hunter.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Johannes (Chuck) of Fredericksburg, VA and Reba Knight (Chip) of Eugene, OR; one brother, J. W. Taylor (Mary Nell) of Memphis; six grandchildren, Kimberly Street (Clay) of Stafford, VA, Melissa Shively (Dave) of Waxhaw, NC, Paul Johannes of Arlington, VA, Kathryn Charlton (Justin) of Ft. Moore, GA, Summer Ford of Wichita, KS and Robert Knight (Rachel) of Springfield, OR; and eleven grandchildren, Abbigale, Victoria and Olivia Ford, Lorelei, Dean and Evelyn Street, Tristan and Paxton Charlton, Parker and Savannah Shively and Elizabeth Charlton.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
