Mr. Herbert Leonard Grantham of Huntsville passed away peacefully on Saturday evening at home while surrounded by his family.  He was 77.  He spent his career in the aerospace industry in Huntsville, Alabama where he worked as a technician.  He was a Christian and a member of the Maysville Church of Christ.

Mr. Grantham will be remembered for his friendliness – never meeting a stranger – and for his intuitive ability to fix anything as he was a jack-of-all-trades.  He loved music and enjoyed singing, was a passionate Alabama football fan, enjoyed NASCAR, but most of all, he dearly loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, two brothers, and his granddaughter, Haven Swaim.

Surviving family members include his wife of 57 years, Deborah Askins Grantham; His sons and daughters-in-law, John & Caren Grantham and Len & Kim Grantham;  His daughter and son-in-law, Dottie & Phillip Cherry;  His grandchildren:  Alicia (D.J.), Hope (Cody), Jarrett (Lauren), Amanda, and Jacob;  One great-grandchild, Lizzy; One sister, Barbara Sue Wilkinson.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 7:30pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30am at Charity Cemetery with Brother Tim Orbison officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy of Hope (legacyofhope.org) or St. Jude’s Hospitals (stjude.org).

Hazel Green Funeral home is honored to serve the family.
