Herbert Burns Plyler, 82, of Florence, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024.  Mr. Plyler was a life-long member of the Boy Scouts of America, and Masonic Lodge 788, Killen, AL.  He attended Walker State and Florence State College.  He received his BS degree from Athens State College and his MBA from Jacksonville State University.  Mr. Plyler was an active UNA alumni, a Red Cross Responder, and was retired from TVA and the Army Corps of Engineers with numerous awards.  He was a long-time member of the Methodist church.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at the funeral home Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.  Officiating will be Rev. A. Ray Blankenship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phee Lamar Plyler and Mattie Lee Plyler; and his wife, Marie Gray Plyler.

Mr. Plyler is survived by his daughters, Marsha Blankenship (Greg), Paige Stephens (Ashley), and Pamela Plyler; son, Mark Plyler (Betsi); brother, Tim Plyler (Peggy); grandchildren, Johnathon Blankenship (Tayler), Alex Blankenship (Adora), Alton Stephens (Caroline), William Blankenship, Henry Stephens (Alyssa), Charlie Stephens, and Grayson Caroline Plyler; and great grandchildren, Blair Blankenship and Allie Blankenship.

Pallbearers will be Johnathon Blankenship, Alex Blankenship, William Blankenship, Alton Stephens, Henry Stephens, Charlie Stephens, and Grayson Caroline Plyler.
