Funeral services for Ret. Sgt. Major Herbert Barnes, age 75, are scheduled for 7 PM, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Mr. Barnes passed away late Wednesday in Jackson. He was born January 30, 1940 in Clinton, TN to the late Hildon Barnes and Irene Lancaster Reed. He was retired from the U. S. Army after 30 years of service, serving in Korea and Vietnam, and 15 years of Civil Service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Kathlene Barnes. Survivors include his son, Steven Barnes of Ellabell, GA; his daughter, Kathy Lynn Barnes of Scotts Hill; his sister, Mary Middleton of Auburndale, FL; two grandchildren, Steven Ray Barnes, II and Justin Parnell Barnes; and three great grandchildren, Natalie, Caydence, and Holton Ray Barnes.
