Henry Victor Holst, 91, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 in Florence. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
Mr. Holst was born on October 5, 1923 in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. He is survived by his loving wife of over 67 years, Marjorie (Olson) Holst. “Hank” was a wonderful father of three sons, Peter Henry Holst (Catherine, dec.) of Bartlett, IL, Bradley Alan Holst (Cheryl) of Williamsburg, MI, and Richard Eric Holst of Allegan, MI. Mr. Holst was a most loving grandfather to two grandsons, David Eric Holst (Katherine) of Somers Point, NJ and Douglas Alan Holst of Traverse City, MI.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Etla and Axel Holst, one brother, Helge, and two sisters, Elin Silsby and Grete Evans.
Mr. Holst graduated from the University of Michigan with an Engineering Degree in 1948, after serving his country in the Marines for four years. Mr. Holst was employed with Ford Motor Company in Sheffield, AL. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, a Life Member of the Florence Elks Lodge #820, the VFW and the American Legion.
