Henry Vernon Mobbs, age 91, of Ethridge, TN passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg. He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation, and a member of First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg. He enjoyed reading his Bible and gardening. Mr. Mobbs served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Monroe and Bessie Hipp Mobbs; seven brothers, Major Mobbs, Leon Mobbs, Lorenzo Mobbs, Glen Mobbs, Neal Mobbs, Harry Beamon Mobbs, and Wayne Mobbs; and four sisters, Naoma Woodcock, Frances Bimstein, Lorene Mattox, and Baby Sister.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sarah Cargo Mobbs of Ethridge, TN; one daughter, Vivian Mobbs Moreland of Salem, OR; two grandchildren, Samantha Moreland of Corvallis, OR and Michelle Moreland of Eugene, OR; one sister, Ruth McDonald of Lewisburg, TN; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Edwards, Charlie Edwards, Lenny Pack, Kevin Pack, Brandon York, and Michael Mobbs.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Caris Hospice and NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg, especially Wesley Gobble, for all the care provided.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 16, 2023, with Jeff Vanlandingham officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg Mission Fund or Caris Hospice.
