Henry Homer “Bill” Adams, 95, of Ardmore, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Ardmore.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Aaron Armstrong, Billy Shannon and Lynn Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery with military honors.
Bill Adams was born in Giles County, Tennessee, to William Adams and Inez Holden Adams on February 3, 1923. He married Selma A. Hester for fifty-six years. He worked as an accountant for Cowart Associates, the Limestone Farms Cooperative, and Alabama Farmers Cooperative, and then worked for Alabama Flour Mills (Conagra). He served in the Alabama State Legislature as a Representative from 1978-82. He retired from the Farmers Market Authority in 1993.
Adams, a veteran of World War II, served in the Army in the European Theatre and was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct medal, a citation for Valor with one European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Bronze Star and a Silver Star. He was twice awarded the Purple Heart. He is a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He loved playing golf and gardening.
Bill Adams is survived by wife, Selma A. Adams; five children, a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Larry Gattrell, Wayne Whitt, Lewis Norris, Dennis Morris, Gordon Mitchell and Raymond Fogg. Honorary Pallbearer is J.W. Eubanks
