Henry “Hen” Phillip Miller Sr., 87 of Athens, passed away on January 5, 2021. He was at home with Comfort Care Hospice.
Hen was born September 19, 1933 to Wade and Bettie Lee Prater Miller and married to Juanita Russell Miller on December 30, 1966.
Preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Miller; son, Henry P. Miller Jr.; parents, Wade and Bettie Lee Miller; brothers, Rufus Miller, James Miller and Robert Miller; sister, Oneida Stoner.
Hen is survived by his daughters, Emily Alexander (Nick) and Diane Beddingfield (Michael); grandchildren, Morgan Alexander, Molly Alexander, Eric Moyers (Jeanie) and Bethany Springer (Nathan); great grandchildren, Ella Springer and Eli Springer; brother, W.L. Miller; sister, Irene Miller; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hen was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved his family dearly. He could be so funny and always loved telling his stories of childhood, Army Days, Softball (he was the best fast pitch softball pitcher), and stories of TVA where he retired in 1999. He also loved to travel, fish and yard work, and as he said “Pittle”, but mostly he loved to spend time with his family.
He was so strong, hardworking, fun, loving, kind, giving, stubborn and feisty. We will treasure the time we had with him and all the stories he shared. We have been blessed with being a part of his life. He will be missed but will be with Jesus with no pain, a renewed mind and body and that we are so thankful for.
Graveside services for Mr. Miller will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Mike Green officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home prior to the graveside.
