Funeral service for Dr. Henry Ewell “Hank” Russell will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Broadway United Methodist Church, Paducah, KY. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be Sunday, July 30, 2017, 11:00 a.m., in Rose Hill Cemetery, Humboldt, TN.
Dr. Russell, who died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at his residence, was born November 19, 1921, in Paducah, KY to Henry Ewell Russell and Margaret Wurst Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dr. Russell served in a myriad of positions with the United Methodist organization in many countries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Grace Jarrell Williams Russell; two sons, Henry E. Russell, III and wife, Mildred, of Gainesville, FL, and Dr. Stephen A. Russell of Knoxville, TN; three daughters, Margaret Peggy Rudolph and husband, Bill, of Decatur, AL, Rose Ellen Weiner and husband, Bob, of Gainesville, FL, and Betty Grace Houser and husband, Philip, of Austin, TX; 17 grandchildren, Leigh Ellen Rudolph (Brad Atkins), Bill Stephen Rudolph (Amy), Stephanie Weiner (Andreas), John David Weiner, Evangeline Weiner (Brian Hooie), Catherine Grace Weiner, Jason Russell, Rebekah Russell, Cameron Russell (John Hurley), Madeline Russell, Katherine Ann Russell, Daniel Wiseman (Elizabeth), Christina Houser (Cory Colley), Dr. Philip Houser (Ranelle), John Russell Houser, Taylor Houser, and Elizabeth Houser; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Reagan Atkins, Julia and Preston Rudolph, Brittany (Carson Landers) and Dillon Bullard, Liberty Grace, Judah Daniel, Jordyne Victoria Rose, and Avivah Joy Keller, Abigail Russell, Anabelle, Elijah, Ruby Jean Houser, London Taylor Hooie, Allison Jean and Grant Thomas Colley, and Henry Wiseman.
