Henry Edgar “Ed” Hall Sr. of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on June 9, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Ed was born August 17, 1935, in Troy, Alabama to Helen Hitt Hall and Clarence Hall. He graduated from Wetumpka High School in Wetumpka, Alabama in 1953 and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1957 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Ed began his career with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Knoxville, TN. He retired from TVA after 32 years of service and began a new career as an engineering consultant with Patterson and Dewar Engineers. He retired from P&D after 26 years of service.

Ed is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane Hall. They met in Montgomery, Alabama and after a long-distance courtship, married on June 20, 1959. Ed and Jane have three sons: Michael Hall (Babs), Hank Hall (Kim) and Mitchell Hall (Gay). Ed is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Barbara Jane Ellenburg (Luke), John Hall (Lindsey), Henry Hall III, Emma Hall, Dylan Hall, Trevor Hall, Brynn Hall and five great-grandchildren: Beverly Jane Ellenburg, James Ellenburg, Joseph Ellenburg, Grant Hall and Bennett Hall. He is also survived by a sister, Ibbie Hall Moultrie.

Ed and Jane were active members of Hixson United Methodist Church in Hixson, Tennessee for over 40 years where Ed was chairman of the Board of Trustees and served on several other committees through the years.

Ed loved spending time with Jane and the family at his lake cabin on Lake Martin where he spent countless hours pulling the grandchildren around the lake on skis and tubes and visiting the goats on “Goat Island”. When he wasn’t enjoying the lake, he was an avid “fixer upper” and could build or repair almost anything. He enjoyed spending time in his workshops on his many projects. Perhaps his favorite thing to do, though, was to spend a perfect fall Saturday at Auburn tailgating and cheering on his beloved Tigers with family and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Hitt Hall and Clarence Hall, two brothers, John Hall and Phil Hall, and a sister, Jean Hall Lynch.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at https://www.parkinson.org.
