Helon Marie Walker Mitchener, 91, homemaker and resident of Mooresville Pike, died January 1, 2020 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Maury Hills Church with Russ Adcox officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Born April 22, 1928 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late William Cameron Walker and the late Sammie Osborne Walker. After high school graduation, she worked for Kraft Foods, then Tennessee Farm Bureau, and later Union Carbide and Dupont as a secretary. After the birth of her children, she spent her life devoted to the caring of and loving her family. Mrs. Mitchener was a member of Maury Hills Church.
Survivors include her husband, whom she married June 9, 1951, Douglas “Keith” Mitchener of Culleoka; daughters, Karen (Stephen) Worley of Hampshire; Sherri Mitchener of Columbia; grandchildren, Brent (Jessica) Worley; Katherine Worley; Stephanie Worley; great grandchildren, Evelyn Worley; Eugene Worley; and caregivers and friends, Gennie Lovett; Carolyn Kennemer; Tricia Russell; Earnie Webb; Quan McGloffin; and Leslie Shelton.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Patricia Ann Mitchener; sister, Margaret Paris; and brother, James Moore Walker.
Active pallbearers will be Brent Worley, Clint Bain, Brian Brown, Christopher Stanley, Darryl Jett, Nathan Peery, Quinton Sprouse, and Tim Melikian.
