Helga Sengstock Reed

Helga Sengstock Reed, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Brookdale Columbia.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22nd at 2pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Deacon John Clear.  Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will visit with friends on Thursday, October 21st from 4-6pm at the funeral home.

Helga was born in Danzig, Germany on December 30, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Friedrich Johann Sengstock and the late Maria Olga Sengstock.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She was a homemaker who was proud to be a Military wife.  She loved sharing her experiences and struggles with being a refugee during and after World War II.  She was very patriotic with many American flags in her home.  Helga had a green thumb and was always working in her flowers and gardening.  She also loved cooking and making German cuisines.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Frank (Suzanne) Reed of France; daughters, Desiree (Nate) Huven of Pleasant View, UT, Rebecca Bailey of Columbia, and Sabrina (Sherry) Reed of Columbia; sister, Karin Lenegar; grandchildren, Ian Ortega, Candice Ortega, Elias Johnson, Wesley Johnson, and Savannah Bailey; and great grandchildren, Coen Ortega and Reghan Ortega.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jurgen Sengstock.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
