Helga Emma Pierce, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in her home surrounded by family. Born in Talheim, Schweinfurt, Germany on February 15, 1944, Helga was the daughter of the late Ludwig Seban and Paula Gerb Seban. As a young girl, she gracefully twirled as a gymnast, enchanting the arenas of the German Olympics with her determined presence.
Helga’s life was a tapestry of love and commitment. On September 13, 1962, she married the love of her life, John W. Pierce, during his military service, and together they cherished 62 beautiful years of marriage, raising a loving family. Helga was a woman of diverse talents and pursuits. After completing her education, she became a licensed cosmetologist, mastering the art of cutting hair. She later transitioned to roles in quality control and shipping at V.G. Reed & Sons, and in the Dietary Department at Signature Healthcare until her well-earned retirement.
Known for her loving and compassionate nature, Helga had a heart for those in need, earning her a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. “To know her was to love her.” Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and devotion.
Helga is survived by her beloved husband, John W. Pierce; her children: Angela Pierce, Tina (Jeff) Burke, Jerry (Karen) Pierce, and Amy (Tony) Pierce. She is also remembered by her 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, six siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
