  F.5.23.24 Helen McCaig.jpgHelen Ruth McCaig, 90, Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. A private graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 22, at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia, with Webster Wade officiating.

Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia. She was a 1952 graduate of Deshler High School and retired from the accounting department of Muscle Shoals Minerals after fifty years of service. She was a woman whose existence was a testament to her deep Christian faith and boundless generosity. Helen exemplified the virtues of compassion and good character, impacting many lives through her philanthropy and warm spirit. Her intelligence and self-reliance shone brightly as she built a life marked by success and independence. She was a historian and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and love to her family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Greer McCaig; brother, Herbert McCaig (Phyllis); sister, Marie Mitchell (Jack); nephews, Terry McCaig and Robert Mitchell; and great-niece, Stacy Fulford.

Helen is survived by her nieces, Geri Fulford (George), Donna Batchelor (Greg), Sandra Copeland (Hudson), and Lisa Wade (Webster); nephews, Roger Mitchell (Marisa) and Randy Mitchell (Susan); great-nieces and great-nephews, Amanda Fulford, John Batchelor, Lauren Burgess (Daniel), Kevin Mitchell, Jonathan Wade (Charity), Jennifer Wade, Austin Mitchell, Felicia Mitchell, and Wesley Mitchell; and great-great-nieces, Charlotte and Adalynn Wade.

Helen’s nephews served as pallbearers.
