Helen Pickens – Obituary

Helen Pickens was born January 20, 1933 in Ramer, TN the daughter of the late Grady Baker and Flora Chenault Baker Martin.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Earl Pickens on March 25, 1950.

Mrs. Pickens was a loving wfe, mother and grandmother. She served her country for 20 years as an Air force wife. They were stationed all over the world and their children were all born in different places. She retired from Aqua Glass in Adamsville, TN as an inspector. She was an avid bowler, wonderful cook, enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Pickens departed this life on October 5, 2013 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 8 Months, 15 Days. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond Earl Pickens of Stantonville, TN; a daughter, Connie Wilson and husband Don of Adamsville, TN; three sons, Raymond Earl Pickens Jr. and wife Felicia of Stantonville, TN, Leonard Lee Pickens and wife Carolyn of Johnson City, TN, Mark Wayne Pickens of Stantonville, TN; twelve grandchildren, Donnie Wilson, Louis Wilson, Andrea Slagle, Raymond E. Pickens III, Christina Pickens, Robert Pickens, Constance Cole, Dominick Derose, Nicole Cannon, Jennifer Dawn Sheffield, Mark Anthony Pickens, Mary Beth Haynes; 18 Great Grandchildren; host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs Pickens was preceded in death by a grandson, Leonard Lee Pickens Sr.; a brother, James Grady Baker.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Aseracare Hospice staff; especially Debra, Jennifer, Gwendolyn, Horray Duncan and the social workers.

Sorry to hear about your momma and grand mother. I think of Helen and your family often…I make quilts and had wished we could have stayed in touch. Helen was very kind and I’m sure you all miss her much.
