Marigurette Alexander was born in Eva, Alabama to Hubert Roland Livingston and Gatha Naomi Hopper Livingston on September 17, 1928. She passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, in Falkville, Alabama.

Marigurette was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and shared a close bond with her family. She was also deeply committed to her community in Eva, and to her church, Eva United Methodist.

Marigurette, a supremely talented seamstress and artist, shared her talents and her leadership with the Greater Eva Community by being a member of the Eva Homemakers Club, and eventually founded the Eva Art Guild. Her biggest contribution to not only the community of Eva, but the surrounding area, was co-founding Eva Frontier Days with her husband, Cleo, in 1989. After traveling out west and finding inspiration, Marigurette brought the concept of “Frontier Day” back to the Eva community. This concept has blossomed into town singings, community dinners, and the world recognized “Eva Hayride” that takes space each September. Marigurette was an avid traveler alongside Cleo, traveling across the United States, and especially to the Great Smoky Mountains. She loved the wonders of the outdoors. She was a strong believer in her Christian faith, committing her life to Jesus Christ, and dedicating decades of service to leading in various ways at her Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Clarence Cleo Alexander; her parents; two sons: Sgt. Allon Alexander and Danny Alexander; six brothers and sisters: Marie Patton, June Shaddix, Afton Livingston, Milford Livingston, Roland “Smokey” Livingston, and Sharon Hall.
