Helen Marie Lackey Mask, 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2019, while surrounded by family. She was born December 28, 1938, to Walter and Lois Lackey of Shannon. She was a lifelong resident of the Pleasant Grove Community. She was a skilled seamstress and wonderful cook. She enjoyed caring for her animals and working in her garden. Known as Nannie, she had a heart for children and kept many in her home throughout her life. She loved to tell stories of growing up in her large family and of keeping her best friend Alice Ann Lloyd out of trouble. She enjoyed being creative by painting, crocheting, sewing, and crafting. Family and friends always found her door open and were welcomed with a good cup of coffee. She was best known as a person who loved others well.
She is survived by her two sons, Mickey Mask of Shannon and Billy Joe Mask of
Shannon; two daughters, Donna Marie Sanders (Ottis) of Silverhill, AL and Jackie
Griffin (Burt) of Saltillo; seven grandsons, Josh Mask (Natalie) of Myrtle, Austin Noah Wages (Emily) of Southaven, Daniel Reeves (Dani) of Pontotoc, Zach Mask of
Shannon, Chancy Griffin of Saltillo, Jamison Sanders of Greensboro, NC, Jason
Sanders of Fresno, CA; seven granddaughters, Alana Lentz (Scott) of Saltillo, Kayla
Collins (Dillon) of Stapleton, AL, Kendall Morgan (Tim) of Daphne, AL, Ashley Vroman (Noah) of Vicksburg, MS, Kaylie Griffin of Saltillo, Emily Mask of Shannon, and Lauren Bailey Mask of Tremont; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Mask; her parents, Walter and Lois Lackey; one grandson, Adam Wages; and one son-in-law, Jack Reeves. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; John Ed Lackey, Kenneth Lackey, Ruby Thompson, Judy Stanford, Jane Sullivan, and Carolyn Hatcher.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to La Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5 -7 and one hour before the service on Sunday. There will be no graveside services.
