Helen Louise Camadello Edwards, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the age of 96. Born in Russellville, AL, Helen was the daughter of Linnie Fisher Camadello and Alfred Camadello.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Alfred “Sonny” Camadello; beloved sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Camadello and Pauline Reeves; her devoted husband of 66 years, Herman Lee Edwards; and her son, David Edwards.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Austin of Jonesboro, AR, and Dennis Edwards of St. Gabriel, LA; her grandchildren, Jeremy Austin, Bryan Edwards, Jennifer Adams, Courtney Fisher, Jonathan Edwards, and Klynt Edwards; and her sister, Marjorie Daughety.

Helen’s early years saw her working with the Veterans Affairs and Education Department for the State of Louisiana. After retiring, she and Herman returned to Alabama, where she spent 33 years volunteering at Helen Keller Memorial Hospital in Sheffield. Helen spent her later years filled with more important work like traveling, camping, working with her church, and enjoying card games with her favorite people around her sister’s table.

A graveside service to honor her life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 3:30 PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield.
