Helen Lawrence, 88, of Grant, Ala., passed away on July, 14th, 2023. Helen was born to Lewis and Rosie Wharton on August, 26th,1934. Helen worked at GTE for many years as well as K-Mart before they closed. Helen, enjoyed going to yard sales, and auctions where she would sell items. She also, enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting. Helen loved more than anything spending time with her family especially all her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking Sunday meals for her family which they loved, appreciated and will be missed greatly. While raising her children her sons would play football and she created the uniforms for her daughters along with the whole cheerleading team so they could cheer for her sons. Helen supported all her children in their activities growing up even her daughters when they played softball. Helen was known to even coach a softball team. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Rosie, a daughter Gloria, a daughter in-law Rita Lawrence, son in-laws Neal Brizendine, and Benny Hubbard. Helen is survived by three daughters Marie Tuggle (Floyd) from Tn., Edna Brizendine, and Marilyn Hubbard both from Grant, Al., three sons Jimmy Lawrence from Grant, Ala., Johnny Lawrence (Glinda) from Huntsville, Ala., Jackie Lawrence from Valhermosa Springs, Ala., and a brother Lonzo Wharton. Helen was survived by many grandchildren, great-children, great great- grandchildren also numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was loved dearly by her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
