Helen Juanita Von Sande, age 84 of Manchester, formerly of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on May 17, 1940, in Hytop, AL, to the late Clark Oscar Avans and Wilma Vila (Parrish) Avans. Helen worked previously as a real estate agent and eventually retired with her husband, David, after many years of owning Tyson Growing Houses. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the local flea markets and spending time with her family. Helen was a member of the Center Grove United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Von Sande; and grandson, Dustin Tidwell. Helen is survived by her children, Kathy (Albert) Dockins, Melvin Tidwell, and Pamela (Gilbert) Locke; grandchildren, Albert (Kaylan) Dockins III, Helen Elizabeth (Nick) Lorenz, and Chad (Tayloe) Locke; great-grandchildren, Liza Rae Dockins, Lydia Kate Dockins, Max Dockins, Case Dockins, Duke Dockins, Cole Lorenz, Clara Lorenz, Sawyer Locke and Steedman Locke; siblings, Doris Avans, Ray (Jan) Avans, Kenny (Diane) Avans, Betty Sue Haynes, Grady (Jeanette) Avans, and James Avans; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 3:00pm – 4:00pm at Watson Funeral Home with funeral service following at 4:00pm from the Roy B. Watson Chapel.
