Helen Jean Taft Thomas, 87, a lifelong resident of Sumiton, passed away on Saturday October 23, 2021 at her residence.
She was Owner of Helen and Gene’s Shoe Store for many years and was a member of New Beginnings Church in Graysville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles “Gene” Thomas and her grandson, Bryndon Thomas.
Survivors include her children, Cathy Cole (Jerry), Debra Phillips (Bradley), Steven Thomas and Ken Thomas (Laura); grandchildren, Cris, Scottie and Pepper Cole, Stephen and Ethan Phillips and Cody, Katelyn and Hunter Thomas; nine great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Graveside service and interment will be Tuesday Oct. 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. There will be no public visitation. Everyone is invited to meet at the gravesite.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made in Mrs. Thomas name to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity.
