Helen Jean McCormack Woods, 87, of Leighton, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024. Visitation was Monday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service followed in the funeral home chapel with Mike Weldon and Nick Woods officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia.
Helen was a native and lifelong resident of Leighton. She worked in the cafeteria for the Colbert County School System and was a member of Blythe Memorial Methodist Church. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Woods; parents, Frank and Mattie McCormack; and brothers, Hubert, Raymond and J.B. McCormack.
Helen is survived by her children, Angela Bretherick (Donnie), Randy Woods (Regina), Danny Woods (Shelia) and Daryl Woods; sisters, Ona Mayfield, Lucille Pace, Gayle McDonald and Mary Campbell; grandchildren, Nick Woods (Katie), Clay Woods (Megan), Angela Woods, Allison Woods (John Lovelace) and Anna Woods; great-grandchildren, Judah, Avery and Evan Woods, Titus and Josie Woods; a host of nieces and nephews; and beloved cat, Tom.
Pallbearers were Blake McCormack, Clark McCormack, Tommy Sockwell, Stephen Mayfield, Sammy Mayfield, and Brad Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blythe Memorial Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
