Longtime DeKalb County Bus Driver, Helen Faye “Moma Faye” Pollard age 79 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning November 1, 2024 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She drove the bus for the band for many years, 4-H, and DeKalb Middle School Basketball and she trained bus drivers and took many field trips. She was a member of the Jefferson Community Church, where she loved her church and church family. Faye loved her flowers and enjoyed working in them until she became unable to work in them. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 1/2 years, Jessie “Junior” Pollard; her precious loving son, James Richard Pollard, mother, Nettie Jaco Pack and father, Phermon Pack. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Jerry (Armenta) Pollard of Smithville; very special grandson, Alex R. Pollard (Allison Young), whom she loved dearly; great-grandchild, Aria Pollard; special daughter and her family, Brandy Alexander, James and Terry Parker and their families; extended family, Donald and Connie Haggard and their sons, Daniel, Caleb and Aaron and their families, Meresa, Jeff and Jacob Winchester; sisters, Malinda Richardson, Margaret (Leslie) Dyer and Estill (Wallace) Cooper; brother, Rocky Pack; special nephews, Glenn (Ruthie) Young and Delane (Kay) Lawson; nephews, Leslie, Scott and Matt Dyer; friends, Dinah (Phil) Cripps, Starr Ferrell and Era (Harold) Billings. She loved her family and friends dearly and wanted them all to join her in heaven. One of her sayings was, “I’m good either way.” Funeral services will be 11:AM Monday, November 4, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Donald Haggard and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 1:PM until 5:PM and Monday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In lieu of flowers, her request was that donations be made to the Jefferson Community Church, in her memory. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Pollard family.
